OFF TO NATS WITH 4 NEW SHEETS!!

The Executive Producer and I are off to Phoenix on Wednesday 8-4 and will be set up for the vendor room to open that afternoon with the new sheets ready for new homes. The IPMS National Convention is the highlight of the US modeling year, and we look forward to it with much anticipation every year. We’re excited about Phoenix as the host chapter because they do a great job promoting the hobby and IPMS and run rock solid shows. It ought to be a terrific time! The Afterburner crew is minus Geoff this year due to his impending nuptials, so we’re looking for somebody to take up his beer slack….anybody? Shawn Hull and Jeff Pasteris will be representing this year and we’re eager to renew old friendships and meet new folks, so please drop by the stand and stay a while. We’ll be swapping lies and yukking it up as usual.

We’ve prepared a fantastic slate of releases set for NATS. These are available for ordering right now, but you guys in Phoenix get first crack at ‘em. It will take several days to get caught up after we get home…we only released 2 new sheets last year for NATS and were just swamped, so with the subjects available this year, please bear with us while we get the backlog out.

That all said, let’s get a look at what y’all are in for this year!

48-067 – First up is the LONG awaited release covering the 56th FW from right there in Phoenix at Luke AFB. Luke has the largest collection of vipers anywhere on earth and is responsible for teaching how to fly and fight the F-16. The sheet covers the Wing and OG flagships from various eras, the squadron flagships and 2 line jets including a D for each of the 6 USAF units from various eras, PLUS the squadron flagships for the two foreign squadrons based at Luke, the 425th FS from Singapore and their Block 52+ jets and the 21st FS from the Republic of China. We sat on this release specifically to release at this show, and we’re hoping the subject helps generate some “buzz” for Luke. This is a monster release for us and includes things that really set what we do here apart from companies that offer more generic sheets, like boarding ladder markings, travel pod markings, plus full diagram descriptions of the Blocks available. Luke is a Pratt base, and the sheet covers Block 20, 25, 42 and 52+. Stencils for 2 jets, but with one of our stencil sheet, possibilities are limitless! Shawn Hull will be at the show hawking his new F-16D conversion, so all the Ds will be available to be built.
48-068 – This is another HUGE release for us, and covers the F-4Es and Gs of the 3rd TFW from the early 80s thru Desert Storm. Not content to merely recover the excessively rare AeroMaster release, we included the eras of the SEA, SEA wrap and lizard schemes, along with the Hill gray jets from the 3rd and 90th TFS. The Clark based phantoms are among the fiercest looking F-4s ever and whatever your interest is for F-4 schemes, there’s something here for you! Full weapons loadout details are included in the instructions as well as modeling guides to help you get the details right on your next F-4. Wing flagships, squadron flagships, line jets, combat jets…let your inner phantom loose.
48-069 – This is a radical departure for us, but one that’s long overdue. Geoff is an F-14 aficionado, and while we’ve stayed out of tomcats due to the coverage of then by a couple of other outfits who really have their tomcats wired tight, in looking around we’ve found some holes to fill and thought, “hey, why not”…the result is a whole passle of tomcats from the famed VF-84 Jolly Rogers! This sheet covers A models from the beginning of the overall gray era in 1981 to the early 90s when the Jolly Roger mantle was passed to VF-103. This sheet is jam packed with 12 jets….CAG jets, CO jets, line jets…all awesome. This won’t be the last foray into tomcats by any means, so stay tuned…and get this one while you can.
48-070 – Speaking of “get this one while you can”, if you missed out on our first F-111 release for Lakenheath ‘varks…get in early now because we’re back with more UK based swing wing love! This time ‘round, the subject is the 20th TFW from Upper Heyford. With the release of the Hobby Boss F-111 line, the renewed interest in the cold war iconic F-111 is at a fever pitch, and if you are looking for some fantastic schemes to grace one or…5 of your F-111 projects, here ya go! Y’all know us, when we cover a subject, we COVER a subject and this release is no exception. Wing flagships from 3 eras, squadron flagships for the 55th and 77th from various eras including the 77th retirement scheme, the 79th ’91 Tiger Meet jet and combat jets galore! The 20th had some outstanding art on their jets, and we’ve covered some of the best, 2 versions of “The Chief” “Heartbreaker” “Whispering Death” “My Lucky Blonde” “Red Lady” “Big Dealer” and “June Nite”. This release will not last any longer than the 48th TFW sheet.

That’s all for now folks! Again, we’re looking forward to seeing y’all at NATS and “after hours” as well. As always, we’re so appreciative of your continued support and we’ll keep striving to bring you the very best in markings for your latest masterpieces.
